but I can see an argument for why they take that position. The people I have a problem with are the GOP, who as you said, IMO, are making a long term strategic mistake, but using this issue for political gain when they probably don't have strong feelings (we really think Trump and Gaetz are against abortion if they get someone pregnant?). However, the nature of politics is what can get me elected tomorrow, and largely due to gerrymandering, extreme positions (including betraying your country in favor of Trump) are rewarded with votes.
